3. Lajitas Golf Resort and Spa– Terlingua, Texas
The Lajitas Golf Resort is located in the heart of Big Bend, just outside Terulinga, Texas. It’s best known for its golf course, ranked the #1 Place to Golf in Texas. With a variety of accommodations ranging from upscale to rustic, your family is sure to find comfortable digs while enjoying a plethora of things to do at the Lajitas Golf Resort and Spa.
The only problem will be choosing between authentically West Texas activities like hiking, shooting sports, horseback riding, and ziplining. Also, don’t miss drinking a Lone Star beer with the mayor of Lajitas…. and oh by the way, he’s a goat (yes, for real!).

3. El Cosmico – Marfa, Texas
El Cosmico is the epitome of Marfa, Texas with a little bit of hipster, bohemian, unique, communal, and off-the-grid vibes. Choose your private accommodations from the following: kasita, teepee, yurt, brushtec tent, safari tent, jupe tent, or a trailer. However rustic the exterior may be, all of them have instagram-worthy cozy bohemian interiors. El Cosmico property amenities include a communal outdoor kitchen with a fridge, bathroom facilities, hammock grove, and an option for a wood-fired hot tub.

4. JL Bar Ranch, Resort, and Spa – Sonora, Texas
The JL Bar Ranch in Sonora, Texas is about 1.5 hours south of San Angelo in West Texas. It’s a little in the middle of nowhere but don’t worry, there’s a private airport(!). This resort has the nicest accommodations of the ranch resorts in Texas, an onsite spa and an upscale restaurant with locally sourced ingredients. Activities available at the ranch include archery, shooting sports, hunting, stargazing, s’mores and cowboy cookouts to name a few. Like the other best ranch resorts in Texas, horseback riding is also available but the JL Bar Ranch (to our knowledge) is the only one with a lesson in becoming a horse whisperer. A horse is a horse of course, of course.
