Marriott Marquis Houston

The Marriott Marquis Houston is a hotel in the heart of Houston one block from Discovery Green park, two blocks from Minute Maid Park and connected via skybridge to the George R Brown Convention Center. While it is really a hotel, but it feels like a mini resort with multiple upscale dining options, a rooftop pool, and a spa. However, it is best known for the Texas-shaped lazy river on the rooftop terrace.

The “Parkview Terrace” is the rooftop terrace overlooking Discovery Green Park with a heated pool and lazy river open daily from 6 am – 10 pm. 

1. Pools.

  • Infinity Pool – A heated family-friendly pool open from 6 am – 10 pm daily
  • Whirlpool – An adults-only hot tub
  • Kid’s Pool – There is not a dedicated kid’s pool at the Marriott Marquis Houston but there is a splash pad that will keep the kids entertained while parents can lounge nearby

2. Lazy River.

There is a heated Texas-shaped lazy river located rooftop on the Parkside Terrace at the Marriott Marquis Houston open daily from 6 am – 10 pm.

3. Beach Area.

There is not a sandy beach area at this hotel.

4. Slides.

There is not a slide in the pool complex at the Marriott Marquis Houston.

5. Lounge Area.

The lounge areas are gathered around each of the pools and along the lazy river. There are day beds and cabanas available to rent poolside. 

6. Food/Drink.

Poolside dining is available from High Dive restaurant

7. Accessibility.

Access to the pool and lazy river deck is for hotel guests as well as spa guests that book a service longer than 50 minutes.

Breakfast and Brunch (there’s a difference), Casual, Open M-F 6:30-11 am, Weekends 7 am – 2 pm.

Farm-to-table, locally sourced breakfast and brunch favorites with Gulf Coast-inspired flavors. 

2. Biggio’s

Sports bar, Casual atmosphere, Open lunch, dinner, late night.

Biggio’s is a sports bar serving upscale American pub fare with local craft beers and cocktails. It feels very authentic, as it was created in partnership with none other than Craig Biggio (Astros Hall of Famer for those in the back). 

3. Xochi by Hugo Ortega

Upscale Mexican, Smart Casual, Open for lunch and dinner daily, except lunch only on Sunday.

Xochi is serving up traditional Oaxacan Mexican cuisine with a taste of Texas created by James Beard Award-winning Chef Hugo Ortega. 

4. Cueva

Tapas and Wine Bar, Smart Casual, Open Sun -Thus 4-10pm, Fri-Sat 4-11pm

Cueva tapas and wine bar has a sophisticated yet relaxed feel to it where the wine (bottled and on tap) and conversation flows. 

5. High Dive

Poolside Grill, Casual, Open Lunch and Dinner daily.

American grill favorites with a park view. Dine outside on the deck next to the lazy river, pool, and fire pits. 

6. Texas T

Grab-and-go and coffee shop. Open Sun-Fri 6:30 am – 5 pm, Sat 6:30 – 6 pm

This is a fast and easy option for grab-and-go breakfast and coffee to start your day or a mid-afternoon pick-me-up.

Accommodations

1. Guest Rooms.

This hotel offers their standard rooms with 355 square with either 1 king or 2 queen beds. These configurations can be selected with either a view of the pool/lazy river, Houston skyline, or Minute Maid Park. The Marriott Marquis Houston offers M club guest rooms that have access to the exclusive 24/7 M Club Lounge. There is also a larger corner King room option that provides an additional 100 square feet of space. There are accessible rooms with a skyline view for guests with hearing or mobility impairment.

2. Suites.

There are several suite options available at the Marriott Marquis Houston. The Hospitality Suite and the One Bedroom suite each offer 710 square feet of space. The Hospitality suite has a table that seats 8 and a sitting area but not a separate living room, which is included in the One Bedroom suite. The Luxury Suite and Vice Presidential Suite each provide 1,065 square feet of room with a separate living room and a table for 6. The Luxury suite has a sofa bed in the living room. The Presidential Suite offers an impressive 2,130 square feet with a separate living room, dining table for 8, and a balcony on a high floor with unparalleled views. 

3. Amenities.

Amenities include: mini fridge, hair dryer, and a coffee maker in addition to the standard things expected at a hotel. Wifi is not included in the room rate. The bathrooms have a tub/shower combination.

Cribs are available upon request and rollaway beds are $50/night.

4. Pets.

Pets are not allowed at this property other than service animals.
