The San Luis Resort and Spa is a beachfront resort located on Galveston Island. It is about 50 miles from downtown Houston. It is 45 minutes from Houston Hobby Airport and 1 hour 10 minutes from George Bush Intercontinental Airport

Pools & Lazy River

“The Cove” is the tropical pool located at the San Luis Resort. There is one hot tub and two pool areas with a slide and waterfall overlooking the beach across the street. Pool access is reserved for registered guests and a wristband is required. Pools available include:

1. Pools

  • Main Activity Pool— Main activity pool with a small slide, swim-up bar, and beach views. Check, check, and check. 
  • Plunge Pool-– This is a private pool reserved for guests who have rented a “Cove” cabana for the day. 
  • Hot Tub — heated jacuzzi located adjacent to the main pool 

2. Lazy River

There is not a lazy river at this Resort

3. Beach Area

The hotel is located across the street from the beach

4. Water Slides

There is one small slide in the main activity pool

5. Lounge Area

Loungers are available around the main pool and provide poolside service with drinks and snacks from the H2O lounge.  Get out there early to snag a lounger with a beach view! Cabanas are available for rent in the grotto, poolside, or cove areas. There is a private plunge pool reserved for those who have rented a “Cove” cabana. Cabana rental includes: a mini-fridge, ceiling fan, flat screen TV, comfy lounge chairs, preferred poolside tablet service including fruit, water, and a bottle of champagne. 

6. Food/Drink

The H2O Pool Bar and Lounge is available for swim up or poolside drinks and eats. 

Child Care

The San Luis Resort does have onsite childcare options. More details to come soon!

There is no golf course on this property.

Restaurants

1. The Steakhouse

Steakhouse, Resort casual, Open Tuesday – Saturday 6-10 pm, Reservations recommended. 

Dine on an upscale selection of steak or seafood including local gulf snapper accompanied by a mouthwatering selection of sides. Has been named one of the top ten steakhouses in Texas. 

2. Grotto

Italian, Casual, Open Monday & Wednesday – Sun 4-10 pm.

Enjoy a selection of housemade pastas, and pizza, or opt for an entree of veal, chicken, or seafood. There’s a decent happy hour M-F from 4-7 pm with drink discounts, $5 apps, and $8 pizzas. 

3. Blake’s Bistro

American, Casual, Open Sunday- Thursday 6:30 am-9 pm, Friday-Saturday 6:30 am – 10 pm.

The breakfast menu offers classic selections, regional selections like the cajun seafood omelet, and decadent options like the banana fosters (pan)cakes served with vanilla ice cream (not joking). Lunch/Dinner menu offers a wide variety of classic apps (think: loaded fries, nachos), salads, oversized sandwiches (example: The “One Pound” Rueben), and burgers. Casual, family-friendly sports bar vibe. 

4. Cup + Cone

Coffee/Dessert, Casual, Open Sun- Thurs 6:30 am-9 pm, Fri-Sat 6:30 am – 10 pm.

Start your day with coffee and end it with gelato, or maybe the other way around… vacation, right? 

5. San Luis Bar

Bar, Casual, Open Sun-Thurs 5 pm-12 am, Fri -Sat 5 pm – 2 am.

Grab a drink before dinner or enjoy some live music afterward. Located next to the steakhouse.  Bar snacks are available. 

6. H2O Pool Bar and Lounge

Poolside Bar, Poolside casual.

Offers a variety of tropical-themed cocktails including traditional, frozen, and “skinny” options. Sip on your frozen bellini at the swim-up bar or poolside lounge, both with beach views! 

7. Rainforest Cafe

American, Casual, Open Sun-Thurs 11 am – 9:30 pm, Fri 11 am – 10 pm, Sat 11 am – 11 pm.

The jungle-themed chain you know and love. Rainforest Cafre is cross the street from the hotel but on the resort property. 

8. Landry’s Seafood

Seafood, Casual, Open Sun-Thurs 11 am-10 pm, Sat-Sun 11 am-11 pm.

Classic steak and seafood options with an incredible beach view. Enjoy outdoor seating and happy hour. Landry’s is across the street from the hotel but on the resort property. 

9. IHOP

American, Casual, Open 24 hours.

Another great classic with something for everyone with an affordable price tag. Across the street from the hotel but on the resort property.

Accommodations

Guest Rooms

Guest rooms offer either 1 King or 2 Queen beds in 396 square feet with a private balcony. They are available as standard (floors 4-6 with partial gulf views), deluxe (floors 7-9, full gulf views), or premium (floors 11, 12, and 14 with full gulf views). 

VIP Guest Rooms

VIP guest rooms are also available. Just like the traditional rooms, they are 396 square feet and have a private balcony but these are located on the top 2 floors and have the best views. These rates also include access to a light continental breakfast and afternoon fruit and desserts available in the floor’s lobby. 

Suites

Suites are available with a variety of layouts. Entry-level suites are 407 square feet with a king bed and a pull-out single sleeper in a sitting area off to the side but in the same room. To upgrade to a suite with a separate sleeping/sitting area you will need to reserve a VIP Deluxe suite that offers 712 square feet with a separate king bedroom and a queen sleeper in the parlor. 

Amenities

Amenities in both rooms and suites include a private balcony with outdoor seating, a Keurig coffee maker in the room, robes, and wifi. A refrigerator is not included in guest rooms but is included in suites. A mini fridge can be reserved for $10/day. Exceptions may be made for medical or dietary purposes and the fee will be waived (looking at you, pumping mamas). The same goes for microwaves but they are not standard in either rooms or suites. 

Pets

Pet Policy: Dogs are “welcome” at the hotel but must be less than 25 pounds and no more than 2 per room. There is a $125 cleaning fee required. Dogs must be leashed and are not permitted in any of the public areas on the resort other than a grassy area in the back of the resort. They may not be left unattended in the room unless they are in a crate and do not disturb other guests.  

Resort Fee

A resort fee of $8/day and includes pool access, shuttle service wifi, newspaper, and bottled water.

Cruise Parking

There is a stay, park, and cruise package available that includes longer-term parking while you’re cruising making this a good option for families departing on a cruise from Galveston.

There are 2 other sister hotels on the San Luis Resort property: Hilton Galveston Island Resort (also has a pool with swim-up bar) and Holiday Inn Resort on the Beach (kids stay and eat free!)

Spa

Hours: Monday-Thursday 9 am – 8 pm, Friday-Sunday 8 am-8 pm 

Services include: massage (including prenatal), facials, body scrubs, wraps, and soaks, waxing, nail care, hair styling, and makeup

18% gratuity is included. Valet parking is complimentary for spa guests
